GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
IOF Corporate Responsibility Program for Bone Health
World Osteoporosis Day 2008
On World Osteoporosis Day employees were sent an article about osteoporosis and then asked to answer a quiz to win a prize. A message from GSK's European president was also broadcast on the website. There was a very positive response and good feedback from employees, especially those with osteoporosis.
World Osteoporosis Day 2007
To reflect the IOF’s theme of 'Beat the Break', GSK and co-marketing partners Roche ran an internal communications campaign, encouraging all employees to log into a specially-developed, interactive version of the IOF’s ‘One-Minute Risk Test’. Completing the interactive risk test helped inform employees if they or their loved ones should take steps to improve their bone health and minimise the risk of developing osteoporosis in the future.

World Osteoporosis Day 2006
A broad variety of activities were undertaken throughout GSK on World Osteoporosis Day 2006:
These include the provision of educational materials at all main company sites - including:
- Distribution throughout October 2006 of a leaflet with facts on osteoporosis and the importance of healthy eating
- Screensaver information around WOD with information on bone-friendly food
- Updates on company intranet (one article on risk factors, one article on healthy eating - both linked to IOF site).
updates in 'BoneZone' (GSK and Roche internal magazine) - including information on the new IOF website, osteoporosis 'Did You Know' section, and a WOD article.
Fitness centres are set-up at most sites (including all HQ sites). At GSK House, pilates bands and leaflets were distributed in October to promote the importance of exercise in prevention of osteoporosis.
