Science/Health Professionals
IOF's science and health professional education programs represent an important aspect of IOF's mission to advance understanding of osteoporosis, and its goal to promote medical innovation and improved patient care.

There are a number of ways in which IOF works to further scientific advance in the field:
-
IOF runs or supports world-class scientific conferences. The IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis, held every two years, is the only global conference specifically on osteoporosis. IOF also supports a number of regional meetings or conferences held by its member societies. Support may include financial contributions, endorsement or provision of speakers.
-
IOF supports innovative research in several ways. It publishes the monthly scientific, peer reviewed journal Osteoporosis International; it provides awards to young researchers; and it supports research through its Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) (CSA) which allocates funds each year to a selected number of research projects and working groups, often in partnership with other scientific societies.
-
Professional awareness is furthered through the IOF Advanced Osteoporosis Training Course on Osteoporosis and similar regional courses, the IOF Osteoporosis Diagnosis Course with Densitometry Certification, and various educational slide kits.
Further information about all of IOF's science and health professional-related programs and projects can be found in this section of the website as well as on the Health Professionals section.
