How to join the CNS

IOF welcomes applications from osteoporosis and musculoskeletal disease-related patient and medical societies worldwide.

  • Participate and have a voice in the largest network of organizations dedicated to osteoporosis and musculoskeletal disorders and the promotion of patient care
  • Enjoy free registrations for your members to IOF Congresses and Meetings
  • Have access and rights to use educational and advocacy materials
  • Have access to World Osteoporosis Day motivational campaign to drive target audience support and participation
  • Request IOF endorsement for congress or scientific events (subject to prior notification to IOF and agreement in writing.)

Membership Criteria

Legitimacy:

  • The society/organization must have legal status and be registered as a not for profit organization; must permit national membership and have interest in musculoskeletal disorders. 
  • The society/organization must be independent from commercial, political and religious organizations. It can be sponsored by commercial companies if their number is at least three and these companies are independent among themselves.

Governance:

  • The society/organization must have an established governance structure; members of the society/organization must meet at least once a year.

Activity:

  • The society/organization must develop either teaching/education activities in the field of osteoporosis and/or musculoskeletal disorders for the lay public, health/medical professions, and /or scientific activities, and/or should promote patient care.

Credibility:

  • Statements and opinions of members should reflect views grounded in credible science.

Membership is comprised of Full members and Associate members.
New applicants can enter either as Full members or Associate members (the latter for 2 years maximum).


 

Membership Categories & Application Form

Full member:

*Full membership benefits are automatically lost and re-categorized under associate membership in case of non-payment of the annual membership fees

Associate member:

  • Status available for two years upon election of the society - after that period, society will be encouraged to upgrade to full membership
  • No annual fees
  • No financial benefits
  • No voting rights and no eligibility to CNS chairmanship or other global or regional positions
