The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is committed to dramatically improving bone, muscle and joint health, and ending the epidemic of fragility fractures that strike millions of people worldwide.
One in three women and one in five men over the age of fifty will experience fractures brought about by osteoporosis. Personal suffering - including pain, disability and death - resulting from these fractures is severe, while the cost to health care systems and individuals is enormous.
This suffering can be prevented and osteoporotic fractures effectively prevented, diagnosed and treated.
Your donation to IOF supports our efforts to:
- Educate the public and medical professionals about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and musculoskeletal disorders
- Publish scientific research to improve treatment and medical care
- Convince policy-makers that osteoporosis and bone muscle and joint disorders must be made a priority in healthcare systems
- Provide online support to people with osteoporosis, their families and friends, to help them engage in their health care and give them social and emotional support as well as credible information
- Organize training conferences and meetings of health professionals and scientists that focus on these chronic diseases
