A four-day congress will be held in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the Lebanese American University (LAU), the Lebanese Osteoporosis Prevention Society (LOPS) and the Bone and Joint Decade (BJD), Lebanese chapter, from October 23 to 26, 2008. It will be held on the occasion of the opening of the "Bellevue Medical Center" in Mansourieh, Lebanon.

The 3rd IOF-Middle East Training Course on Osteoporosis (IOF-METCOP) was held in the Grand Hills Village, Broumana, Lebanon from the 7th to the 8th of December 2007. As in past years this successful course featured outstanding international and local speakers.

The celebrated Lebanese singer, Magida El Roumi, made her debut appearance as the new Patron of the Lebanese Osteoporosis Prevention Society and of the Bone & Joint Decade (Lebanon) at a large press conference at Beirut’s Phoenicia Hotel on the 31st October, following a week-long campaign of television interviews by various members of LOPS committee on the occasion of World Osteoporosis Day.

SMS messaging - this unique method to raise awareness of osteoporosis is part of the Saudi Arabian government's national osteoporosis campaign.

Magida El Roumi, the great singing star, has honored the Lebanese Osteoporosis Prevention Society (LOPS) and the Lebanese National Action Network of the Bone & Joint Decade (BJD) by accepting to become their Patron.

Mrs Angelique Chartouny, a well-known Lebanese-Brazilian philanthropist who has shown great support of IOF and the BJD, hosted a memorable dinner in Rio de Janeiro on July 2, 2007.
