Support local, regional groups Over 72 National Osteoporosis Society support groups meet across the UK to share information, help raise crucial funds and offer support to people with osteoporosis, their families and carers. For men and women who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, this is an ideal way to share experiences and find out more about help and advice in their area.
Public awareness and education The National Osteoporosis Society has over 20 different publications for the public, including booklets, leaflets, and awareness posters. The National Osteoporosis Society regularly attends conferences and meetings to spread the word about its work. The National Osteoporosis Society also regularly contributes to articles and carries out radio and TV interviews. Helpline staffed by osteoporosis nurses answering medical queries - also respond to letters and emails. A quarterly magazine, Osteoporosis News, is available to all members.
Lobbying The National Osteoporosis Society lobbies politicians in all UK parliaments, civil servants working in the area of health, hospitals, primary care organisations and strategic health authorities.
