Partnerships

The fight against osteoporosis and the mission to improve its diagnosis, prevention and treatment can only be accomplished when people and organizations from a broad range of fields join forces and work together. This is the philosophy that guides IOF in its many partnerships with national and international organizations around the world.

Concern for osteoporosis is shared by many organizations – ranging from policy-oriented bodies like the WHO or the EU, to health professional organizations, to advocacy groups concerned about patient rights or women’s health. Working hand in hand such groups, IOF is able to maximize the effectiveness of various projects and programs and benefit from synergies that grow from these partnerships.

In the past, partnerships, projects or affiliations have been initiated with policy and advocacy-related organizations such as the WHO, the European Community, the BJD, the International Alliance of Patients Organizations and the European Institute of Women’s Health.

In order to reach those specific health professionals which impact on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis patients, IOF works closely with various medical specialist organizations. These include international and national organizations such as the European Society on Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), European Federation of Orthopedic Surgeons and Traumatologists (EFORT), European Society of Skeletal Radiologists (ESSR), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the International Society for Fracture Repair (ISFR).

As an umbrella organization, IOF’s most important partnerships are those with its national and regional member societies and its corporate partners, all of which cooperate together on a wide number of projects.
