IOF-Novartis Young Scholars Program
Young scientists (maximum 40 years of age) who submitted abstracts to the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis were invited to apply for the first IOF-Novartis Young Scholars Program. The abstracts have been rated by IOF’s experts based on criteria of excellence and originality. The presenting (first) authors of the 10 highest rated qualifying abstracts selected for poster presentations will be honored as IOF-Novartis Young Scholars. Winners will receive a prize consisting of a travel, accommodation and registration grant for the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis in Toronto from June 2-6, 2006. They will also receive a certificate of recognition and be invited to present their work to a panel of experts for the purpose of receiving high-level feedback about their research and poster presentations. In addition, a dinner or lunch for the IOF-Novartis Young Scholars and the expert panel will be held to further informal follow-up discussions. High visibility will be given to the award winners through IOF communication channels and international press releases.
IOF Young Investigator Travel Awards
A number of awards have been made available to young investigators (up to 35 years old by June 2, 2006) for selected abstracts that ranked exceptionally high in the review process by members of the Scientific Program Committee. All Young Investigator Award recipients must present their abstract at the meeting. The awards will only be given at the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis and awards not picked up on-site will be forfeited.
