IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis Bangkok, Thailand, December 3-7, 2008

Important notice to registrants of the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis, Bangkok

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis (IOF WCO) in Bangkok, and thanks to a generous offer from the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), IOF is pleased to announce the following opportunity to all paid IOF WCO registrants:

Your IOF WCO Bangkok paid registration will be valid for the Ninth European Congress on Clinical and Economic Aspects on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ECCEO9) to be held in Athens, March 18 – 21, 2009. Detailed information about this congress is found on the ECCEO website: http://www.ecceo9.org. The participants need to register through this ECCEO9 website and mention in the “Special discount” section: “IOF WCO FREE”.

For those registrants who had an abstract selected for the IOF WCO Bangkok, we are delighted to offer the opportunity of presenting the data at ECCEO9 in Athens, taking advantage of the free registration:

  • Ideally, the abstract submitted for ECCEO9 should not contain the identical text as that submitted for WCO (to avoid duplicate publication) and should include a disclaimer at the end stating that (i) the contents of the abstract had been submitted and accepted for WCO, OR (ii) that it is an updated abstract. The disclaimer must also state the abstract ID assigned by the IOF (e.g. P100TH) followed by Osteoporosis Int (2008) 19 (Suppl. 2).
  • The abstract should be submitted to the ECCEO9 website (www.ecceo9.org) and the presenter must register and fill in the section "Special discount" with the code "IOF WCO FREE".
  • Whereas papers accepted for presentation in Bangkok will automatically be accepted for presentation in Athens, we cannot at this stage, guarantee the decision of the Scientific Committee regarding the selection of oral and poster presentations.
  • The deadline for submission of these Athens abstracts is 12 January 2009.

We are delighted with this initiative and hope you will feel able to avail yourself of it. If you have any questions, please contact the IOF Secretariat (info@iofbonehealth.org)

With kind regards,

The IOF Executive Committee
