Gemma Adib

Gemma Adib MD, is specialized in Internal Medicine and has completed her postgraduate medical training at the University of Dusseldorf, Germany, She works as Consultant Internist in Syria and Germany.

She is a Founding Member and Director of the Osteoporosis Centre at the Italian Hospital in Damascus. Dr. Adib’s research interests include metabolic muscle and skeletal diseases, pharmaco-epidemiology, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and chronic diseases, as well as nutrition and public health. She is Founder and President of the Syrian National Osteoporosis Society (SYNOS). Furthermore, she is past President of the Pan Arab Osteoporosis Society (PAOS), Board member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and chair the Middle East & Africa Regional Advisory Council (RAC) for osteoporosis.

She serves as a Board Member on the Syrian National Council for Disability and as Medical Director and Board Member at the Syrian Special Olympics Commission. Dr Adib has organized multiple conferences and IOF training courses and was Chair of the Pan Arab Osteoporosis Congress in 2010, and Co-Chair of the Regional Conference of Osteoporosis in Dubai 2013, and the Pan Arab Osteoporosis Congress 2014

Dr. Adib has contributed to multiple publications on osteoporosis and is first author of the Middle East and Africa Osteoporosis Audit.
