Health Economic Benefits of FLS, and How to Make a Business Case

Nyon, Switzerland, June 25 - 25, 2018

Speaker: Ass. Prof. M Kassim Javaid

Moderator: Masaki Fujita

With approximately 9 million fragility fractures occurring every year globally, and 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men above the age of 50 years suffering a fracture due to osteoporosis, the incurred cost on the healthcare system is in the billions. Fractures already cost over 32 billion EUR in Europe and 20 billion USD in the US.

Fracture Liaison Service (FLS), a model of care for secondary fracture prevention, is an effective approach to improve patient outcomes and save costs. While numbers of FLSs are growing across the globe, demonstrating the financial benefits remains a challenge, especially when a clinic seeks funding from the payers to establish a FLS.

Ass. Prof. Javaid is back this month to discuss the key elements for calculating the cost-effectiveness of FLS, and tips on how to make a winning business case.  Dr. Javaid is an international expert on how to implement an effective FLS in a health-care setting, and is the Co-Chair of the Capture the Fracture® Steering Committee.

Key learning objectives of this webinar include:
