IOF member society, Associação Brasileira Osteometabolicas Orthopedic (ABOOM), organised the highly successful CBOOM XIII Congress, held from the 24th to the 26th of August of 2017 in the city of Salvador, Brazil.

CBOOM is the largest Brazilian Congress dedicated to skeletal metabolism and orthopaedics at the national level. Its objective is to provide the highest scientific knowledge in the area of metabolic bone disease.

Osteoporosis is a disease that affects about 10 million Brazilians. ABOOM works to bring knowledge of the disease’s pathology to orthopaedists so that they can better identify and treat the disease or refer patients to other specialists in the field of bone metabolism.

The Congress brings together professionals from different specialties such as gynaecologists, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, geriatricians, general practitioners, among others, with the objective of transmitting knowledge and clinical experience in order to provide the necessary tools to be implemented in clinical practice.

The XIII CBOOM attracted 566 health professionals, the highest number since its inception. In addition, the participation of national and international speakers enriched the scientific level of the program
