Osteoporosis Essentials course in Brazil draws more than 320 participants

The high turnout for the IOF-ISCD training course ‘Osteoporosis Essentials’ held in Belo Horizonte reflects the growing interest and need for comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis Essentials, an IOF and ISCD two-day course available worldwide, provides a comprehensive training opportunity in osteoporosis, targeted to both clinicians across a broad spectrum of fields, and technologists.

Organized by the Sociedad de Radiologia de Minas Gerais with the support of MaterDei Hospital, the two-day course held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, attracted 321 participants. The course was held as a continuing medical education event recognized by the Medical Association of Brazil in conjunction with the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (AMB/CBR).

IOF congratulates the organizers, and specifically Prof. Bruno Muzzi Camargos and Prof. Ben-Hur Albergaria, for the excellent organization of this successful course.

About 'Osteoporosis Essentials'

Osteoporosis Essentials training is a direct route to better patient care – offering clinicians from a broad range of fields the basic knowledge they need to provide optimal care. The comprehensive programme provides a concise look at all major aspects of osteoporosis assessment (FRAX, DXA, radiology, TBS etc) and management (nutrition and exercise, drug treatment options etc). The technician track offers a special in-depth look at DXA and other imaging techniques used to assess bone status.

The Osteoporosis Essentials course curriculum is provided by IOF-ISCD and the courses are staged in partnership with national or regional societies, not-for-profit educational organizations as well as commercial organizations. The curriculum covers the latest knowledge on densitometry, diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, with separate tracks for Clinicians and Technologists.

Participants may opt to take an exam to achieve an Attestation of Achievement.
