Successful IOF Young Investigator Training Course

Two-day course held in Novi Sad, Serbia teaches research fundamentals for young investigators.

Hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, a two-day IOF Young Investigator Training Course was organized by the Association of Sports Traumatology & Arthroscopic of Serbia (ASTAS), and supported by IOF. The course, held on May 30-31, 2017, featured international speakers Prof. O Bruyère, Prof. R Rizzoli, Dr KM Javaid and Dr R Latinovic, from Public Health England, as well as local speakers Dr R Matijevic and Dr J Boban.

The Training course describes and improves knowledge of the basic principles of epidemiology, statistics, health economics, clinical study design and conduct. It is aimed at young investigators who do not yet fully master the bases of the methodology to conduct an appropriate research plan.

Fifty participants (medical doctors, specialists, PhD students) attended the 2-day course. As it was well-received, and given its success, recommendations were made to hold the training course on a yearly basis.

IOF has supported the development of young investigators through courses and grants since 2010 – making a contribution to the advancement of scientific excellence in bone research of the future.
